Dr. Roy Higson BDS DGDP (UK)
Roy Higson has, over the last 20 years, become the country's most popular lecturer on occlusion at all levels.
As a partner for nearly 30 years in general practice near Stockport he first attended all the Pankey USA Continuum before being invited to become the only non-american to join the Board of the International Partnership for the Study of Occlusion (IPSO). On behalf of IPSO he has lectured for every United Kingdom university and in many other countries. He is president of the British Society of Occlusal Studies and on the Advisory Board of Dental Protection.
Through Stockport Dental Seminars he teaches occlusion both in theory and practice at all levels, especially in hands-on teaching on patients. He has published many articles on the theory of occlusal principles in the treatment of headaches. Dr. John BassettDr John Bassett is a Prosthodontist in private practice in Denver Colorado; he is also an associate Professor at the University of Colorado in the restorative department.Dr Bassett is an ex-chairman of the American Equilibration Society and lead clinician for the International Partnership for the Study of Occlusion. He has taught occlusion courses at all levels all over the world for the last 25 years and welcomes visiting practitioners to his practice in Denver to observe first hand the benefits of an occlusally based practice. Dr Peter NisslerDr Peter Nissler is in full time Prosthodontic practice in Los Angeles. He has worked part time on the staff of the University College of Los Angeles furthering his main interest which is in the restorative treatment of patients with Temporomandibular Joint problems. Dr Nissler has lectured extensively around the world for the last 25 years on behalf of Niles Guichet and the International Partnership for the Study of Occlusion.Dr Larry HuberDr Huber works part time as an Associate Professor at the University of Iowa in the Prosthodontic Department and part-time in private Prosthodontic practice. He is an ex chairman of the American Equilibration Society and has been heavily involved teaching world wide the Principles of Occlusion for Niles Guichet and the International Partnership for the Study of Occlusion.Dr Huber's main interest is in the combined teaching of dentists and technicians in occlusal principles and he maintains a laboratory in his own practice to study this link. Ashley LatterAshley has now delivered over 2500 workshops to over 40,000 business people and he attributes his success to developing life-long relationships and the referrals he received from his many happy clients Ashley's programmes are not lectures but interactive workshops where he works with his clients to develop real positive behaviour changes that make a real impact on their bottom line. The last seven years, over 1250 dental healthcare specialists have taken part on his 2 day Ethical Scales and Communication Programme. The success of the programme has been put down to the number of recommendations he received and he has never spent a penny on advertising. He often writes for the Dental Press and has just launched the programme on a CD/DVD called Don't wait for the Tooth Fairy.Ashley was one of the main Presenters at the British Dental Conference in Glasgow in May 2005 and a platform speaker at the BACD conference in November 2005. Chris BarrowChris is the principal of The Business Coaching Co, a coaching practice serving the owners of professional practices in their desire to generate more profit in less time. He is a popular speaker at conferences across the world and a regular contributor to trade magazines. He publishes his own free e-mail newsletters on practice management and marketing. Chris is a member of Coach University, a distance learning organisation for coaches worldwide, and also a member of the International Coaching Federation.Reflecting a growing involvement in business coaching within UK dentistry, Chris launched The Dental Business School in 1998 and offers a 12-month business coaching programme to over 100 UK practices each year (www.thebusinesscoachingco.com). Ian PeaceIan Peace is a General Dental Council registered specialist in Periodontics. He completed a Fellowship programme at the University of Miami Medical School in Advanced Implantology and Bone Grafting in 1999 and has teaching experience at the University of Sheffield in Periodontics. He is currently the Postgraduate Advisor for the East Midlands branch of the British Society of Periodontology.Ian developed and runs his own private periodontal and implant referral practice in Nottingham. In addition, he runs nationwide training programmes for dentists and hygienists in periodontal, dental implant and business topics believeing that many practices are missing out on vital profit centres. Ian writes regularly for dentistry magazines and is also regularly published in other areas of the dental press. John TiernanJohn Tiernan qualified from Dublin Dental School in 1980 and spent 14 years in general dental practice before joining Dental Protection as a full time dento-legal adviser in 1994. He was appointed Assistant Dental Director in January 2004. Having previously been Chairman of the British Dental Health Foundation and a BDA Council and Representative Board member, John was an elected member of the UK General Dental Council for 10 years. He was also a non-executive director of a UK corporate PLC for 6 years.John has written and lectured extensively in the UK and internationally on the subjects of communication, risk management for the dental team and complaints handling. He is co-author of Risk Management in General Dental Practice along with his colleague Raj Rattan.
